Our mission is to empower youth, honor culture and build community via African drumming instruction and performance.

Honor Culture

We teach traditional world rhythms and their cultural contexts while also creating a space for new artistic creations to emerge.

Empower Youth

We provide a structure for self-improvement and discovery within the group drumming process – the ensemble, itself, is a powerful teacher and a place to experience belonging.

Build Community

We connect with young people, their families and the community at large in a way that is positive, unifying and uplifting

Our Impact

The important part about the group for me is that we all come together, and it forms a big family around you.

What it means to me for him (Ian) to be in M’Power Rhythm is a blessing because when I was a kid back in the 80’s, I participated with Syncopated, Inc…with the African dancing… and with Tripp! So, it really means a lot to me and to him to be in this program.

I just think it’s an excellent opportunity what Tripp and Leslie are doing here with M’Power and offering it to all these children. It’s really expanding my son’s ideas about music and rhythm and percussion and opening him up to other cultures, which is really important. I’m really supportive and excited about this being something new in the community that other children can take part in.
